The future is plastic

Nanotechnology Industries Association

The Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) supports companies across the wide range of industries that are involved in nanotechnology through influencing and explaining the opportunities and uncertainties within the broad and emergent field of nanotechnology.  Cenamps is responsible for the running of the Association, acting as the organisation’s Secretariat.

Members of the NIA create a clear single voice to represent industry’s view, to interface with government, act as a source for consultation on regulation and standards, communicate the benefits of nanotechnologies, interact with the media and inform the debate on nanotechnology.  The breadth of the membership enables the NIA to put forward strong proposals to government and regulatory authorities to promote an environment that supports the responsible application and utilisation of nanotechnologies.

The NIA focuses upon:

  • Promoting the responsible use of nanotechnology and raising awareness of its many applications in an unbiased way among key audiences.
  • Assessing the technological and ethical challenges presented by emerging nanotechnologies, publishing papers and statements and providing responses to consultation exercises.
  • Working closely with regulators to represent the interests of the NIA to ensure the future of nanotechnology is secured in the UK and to realise its full potential.
  • Encouraging and stimulating industry participation and support for nanotechnology and a forum for discussing topics of relevance to its members.

Formed in 2005, the NIA is open to any industrial company involved in the development, production and exploitation of nanotechnologies.
