Recently, a colleague asked me why I work for Cenamps. Having worked at RTC North Ltd prior to joining Cenamps, the answer was simple; I am driven by my passion for exploring the dynamic relationship between new technologies, society and the economy.

Technologies incorporated in processes and products and wrapped with the right business and economic model, enable people to improve the quality of their everyday lives and enables society to overcome challenges. At the same time, they also raise new risks and uncertainties.

As Cenamps' Marketing and Communications Manager and the founding editor of Insight, I will be going out of my way to learn and understand the potential social, commercial and economic impacts of the technologies Cenamps is active in, and bring some of my more interesting findings to you as well as articles from experts in the field.

Today we are seeing the convergence of emerging ICT, biotechnology and nano/micro technologies. These converging technologies form the bedrock of Cenamps' strategic technology footprint.

They are offering significant opportunities to companies to grow their business lines and for the region to strengthen its economic foundation. They are opening up completely new fields of application, such as smart clothing with aesthetically integrated biosensors and communication devices, early-stage medical diagnostics devices and preventative medicine for improving healthcare and

flexible interactive displays that can be rolled up like a piece of paper.

Working in Cenamps has connected me to a growing and dynamic network of people, organisations and businesses all engaged in facilitating, developing and commercialising new emerging small-scale technologies.

I will be taking forward Cenamps’ future marketing activities and hope that you will enjoy reading Insight. If you are interested in making a contribution, please do contact me with your ideas, feedback and suggestions.
