Government
One NorthEast, the regional development agency for the North East of England, founded and funds Cenamps to focus on strengthening the region’s capabilities in emerging technologies and to better connect regional R&D bases with industry – as part of the Strategy for Success programme.
Cenamps has established strong connectivity with regional, national and European government bodies. We engage with these groups in a number of ways:
- To enhance the R&D capabilities and capacity: specifically in the UK and the North East of England as well as regional integration with Europe and internationally. Our programmes are fully supported by regional and national government bodies and linked to economic development initiatives
- Specialist work groups. We participate in government sponsored work groups providing assistance, guidance and recommendations. Presently, Cenamps' Science and Strategy Adviser is on the EU Framework Programme Seven (FP7) Working Group for Nanotechnology. We are also engaged with the Department of Trade & Industry in establishing a UK-wide project collaboration server for Knowledge Transfer Networks and activities
- Sourcing government R&D funds: We promote, participate and manage R&D capital and collaborative calls, proposals and projects respectively. In particular, Framework Programme Six (FP6) and UK government including DTI Collaborative R&D calls and UK Research Councils
- To gain international reach: One NorthEast’s international offices provide Cenamps with international reach through networking channels to connect with overseas businesses and universities to help foster international collaboration and R&D. In particular we liaise with businesses and research bases in China, Japan, Australia, South Korea and the US.
